It's September and the countdown is on. We have now entered my last few months of living in Louisville and it's starting to hit me. I'm really going to be moving out of the house, away from family, and out on my own (maybe on my own but highly considering roommates.) I'm making the move to New York and I'm proud of myself. Proud of me for finally knowing its time and feeling ready.
As we get closer to the date I'm working alot more, hence why I havent been posting. But I thank everyone who is still reading and viewing the blog. I come here to live my dream, writing about fashion, people, or even just life.
It's currently the middle of Fashion Month and I haven't looked at more than 20 shows. Once things slow down I will be looking, reviewing, writing, and making some trend reports. Until then, I'll leave you all with a word that has stuck with me and that I tell anyone who is fearing their dreams.
"As long as you go after what you love, you will not fail."
Go after your dreams y'all and I'll be back soon with more posts. And
yes
, this is a recent shoot, cause I always got time to take pictures *wink*.

Every first Monday in May, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York rolls out the red carpet for hundreds of celebrities, guests, and paparazzi for the annual fundraiser MET Gala. Each year attendees are encouraged to match or exceed the theme. This year's theme was camp, based on Susan Sontag's "
Notes on 'Camp'
." The easiest way to explain camp in short was included in her essay: "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration." The celebrities did not disappoint as they arrived in style and in their interpretations of camp.

Michelle Obama's "Becoming" Book Tour Fashion: What we want to see her in

From the jeweled gold lamé Micheal Kors gown to the Balenciaga Thigh High knife boots, Michelle Obama has given us looks no other political figure could. Her second part of "The Becoming" book tour is set to began this week and we've got a few looks we'd like to see our faorite FLOTUS in. Before we get to them, lets recap last year's fashion from her sold out tour.
Photo by Marvin Joseph/The Washington Post
For the book tour Michelle Obama didn't want to remind us of the First Lady we all knew. She wanted us to get to know Michelle and her own power as a woman. Her stylist Meredith Koop
told New York Times last year
that she wanted to work with more brands that she hadn't worked with before. Michelle's wardrobe has spanned from brands like Cushnie to Thom Browne. And Meredith has been the mastermind behind the style.
Last tour she wore several designers that were fresh to the game and that appeal to different audiences. Pyer Moss, Akris, and Loewe are a few of those brands. Koop suggested in her last interview that Michelle would be wearing a lot more suits and pants. And that she did.
We are in the midst of the second part of the tour and we are loving every look as usual. This time the "Becoming" tour kicked off in Washington and will be headed to Europe in April. Here are some outfits and runway looks we'd like to see her in.
IF SHE REMAINS SUITED
Michelle surprised us when she wore the yellow high slit Balenciaga dress just when we were getting acclimated to suits but if she remains in suits here are some recommendations:
(L to R)
Shell-print wool-blend twill suit
from Alexander Mcqueen Resort 2019,
Jovan wool blend blazer and trousers
from Petar Potrav Resort 2019,
Romantic Tiles-print suit
from Fendi Resort 2019
IF SHE REMAINS BRAND LOYAL
During Michelle's First Lady days there were a few brands that dressed her and that she wore often. These brands included Thakoon, Jason Wu, and J. Crew. Here are three more designers she has worn multiple times:
Neem Khan Spring 2019, Cushnie Resort 2019, Zac Posen Spring 2019
IF SHE HONORS THE LOCATION
When Meredith Koop has dressed Michelle Obama, they take the location of said appearance in consideration. It has also been known that designers from different countries will dress a figure when they visit.
When in Sweden, Stockholm based Acne Studios Spring 2019. When in Paris, wear Chloe Spring 2019. When in Canada, wear Beaufille's
Monet floral embroidered dress
.
IF JAMILA JONES WERE TO STYLE HER
Jamila Jones
, designer of
Jamila Mariama
and a designer at Macy's, weighs in with her picks for Michelle Obama:
Look one: "I’m obsessed the colors and texture of this matching plaid set by designer Stella Jean from her recent Fall 2019 collection. Michelle’s style consists of a lot of structured pieces and this outfit does that but with a eye-catching edge!"
Look two: "This shade of yellow would look so stunning on her. I love how the volume sleeves and fit and flare skirt creates a strong silhouette. This knit two piece design is from Italian designer Roberto Cavalli’s Fall 2019 collection."
Look three: "Black designer, Laquan Smith, is known for his ability to create glamorous but sexy designs. Michelle has always supported black designers during her time as First Lady and I think she would rock this trench coat so well. Animal print has been a huge trend on the runway and this piece is a show- stopper."
Stella Jean Fall 2019, Roberto Cavalli Fall 2019, Laquan Smith Fall 2019
Lastly, Jamila would love to see Michelle Obama in one of her dresses from Macy's. "Michelle Obama has great sense of fashion and has always worn a variety of designs ranging in price and popularity. I designed this striped wrap midi dress for Macy’s and it has such a classic style and great fit." You can shop the piece
here
.
IF I WERE TO STYLE HER
I personally have loved Michelle Obama's fashion transition from First Lady to a best selling author. She has always graced us with elegance, poise, and a hint of "I'm still a grown women and I'm sure in my own skin." From shoulder baring dresses to thigh high heeled boots she shows that she can make a statement, be sexy, and still be a boss. For the continuation of the tour I'd love for the suits to stay and I'd like to see more independent owned fashion labels. Or even better,
black designer brands

In February I turned 24 and like most people in their 20s, I'm trying to find my way. Adulting is new and I'm rejecting it. Relationships and friendships are being tested and I'm hating it. My weight is going up and I'm trying to acknowledge it and go to the gym. But hey, we're all figuring it out as I said. Recently I learned something that I wanted to share (as usual), and I hope it resonates with someone.
To get straight to the point,
not everyone is going for the same thing, in the same way, for the same reasons
. Just because we all are on a self love journey doesn't mean we all want to lose weight or don't want a romantic relationship. Self love can be healing from trauma, it can be learning to be comfortable at the size you are whether its a 2, 10, or 20. Self love is a broad topic and we can't assume.
Earlier this year I was questioning if someone around me knew what love was. I, for reasons, didn't think they knew how to express it and receive it. Let me start with saying one, it was not my business. Two, who was I to say if they knew what love was or not? I soon realized that just because love looks one way to me, doesn't mean it looks the same to others. Everyone is not the same and our aspirations/endeavors wont pan out the same.
And that is ok
.
We are all on separate journeys. Some of us are similar, some of us live in different worlds. And you know what, that's what makes us unique. Live your life and accept lessons as they come. Accept peoples differences. If it isn't harmful, it's ok. And lastly, we all will get where we need and want to be in time.

Spring 2019 Fashion: The looks we want to see Lupita Nyong'o, Beyonce, Cardi B, and more in.

Upon every red carpet event there are celebrities we know are going to bring their A game. There are a few who continue to slay through their other events like talk show appearances, performances, or just their everyday life. I decided to do something fun this time around and play stylist for our favorites. There were looks I saw during the Spring 2019 fashion week season that immediately made me think about certain people. From Cardi B to Issa Rae, here are the looks I think we'd love to see some of Hollywood's show stoppers in.
LUPITA NYONG'O
Lupita Nyong'o at the Golden Globe Awards 2019, photo by Getty Images via Vogue
Lupita Nyong'o has been deemed a style star since she wore that sky blue, deep plunge Prada gown in 2014 at the Oscar's. She has proven there is no color she can't wear. From blues to yellows she blesses us her beauty and great style every time. Her arms seems to be her favorite to show off so I remembered this when choosing her looks. I'd love to see her in more pants because she has a great figure, and although she's
only
5'5 her legs appear to be really long.
ISSA RAE
Issa Rae for The Cut, Photo by Andre Wagner
Issa Rae and fashion has been an interesting conversation to us. We knew her on screen and writing talents but never considered her style personality as most of her character has been laid back and cool. Last year she hosted the CFDA Awards and made a fashion statement that has inspired countless celebrities. She has shown that she's willing to try different silhouettes and outfits so I'd love Issa to continue playing with color and fun flowing silhouettes.
CARDI B
Cardi B performing at ETAM Paris Fashion Week Spring 2019, Photo by Getty Images via Teen Vogue
Cardi B has came onto the scene and taken over. Following in the footsteps of Lil Kim and Foxy Brown, she has became a figure to big fashion labels. Dolce & Gabbana invited her to perform for the creative director of the brand, Domenico Dolce's, birthday in 2018. Her stylist, Kollin Carter, rarely misses the mark. In 2019 I want her to continue to mix sexy and outrageous and keep us talking.
ANGELA BASSETT
Angela Bassett for Net-A-Porter, Photo by Paola Kudacki
Angela Bassett is an actress who has inspired many. She eludes strength and femininity. She also reminds us of what taking care of yourself looks like. Her style is very structured and clean. I'd love to continue to see her in pants and suits, but with a spin. Change up the straight lines, give us illusions, and shape.
KIKI LAYNE
Kiki Layne at the LACMA Art + Film Gala 2018, Photo by AFP/Getty Images via LA Times
Break-out star of "
If Beale Street Could Talk
" captured our attention at the 2019 Golden Globes in a custom blush pink tulle gown by Dior. Like Lupita, her rich skin tone serves as a beautiful canvas for colors. She is young has a very pretty style. Florals and lace fit her well. I'm excited to see her style develop, evolve, and flourish with her career.
MARSAI MARTIN
Marsai Martin at the SAG Awards 2018, Photo by Getty Images for Turner Image.
Marsai Martin is one of Hollywood's youngest. I'm excited for Marsai this year as her film "
Little
" comes out in April with Regina King and Issa Rae. For the premiere I can imagine her in a dress bigger than life (maybe a Giambattista Valli number.) This is a big moment for her as she celebrates being the youngest executive producer on a Hollywood film.
BEYONCÉ
Beyonce at Global Citizen Festival 2018, Photo by Raven Varona/Shuttershock
How could I make a list and not include Beyoncé? But how could I style like Zerina Akers, her current stylist? Beyonce has been stopping the world every Instagram post. She is a celebrity who celebrates her curves. Most pieces accentuate her hips and her tops cut low and we never complain. Beyoncé is doing amazing but here's some pieces that would look great on her.
YARA SHAHIDI
Yara Shahidi at the SAG Awards 2019, Photo by Emma McIntyre/Getty Images for Turner
Another young star of Hollywood, Yara Shahidi, has given us countless looks already. Her style is fun and flirty, but she can be throw a few rough seams and cut outs in there and we love that too. Yara pulls off pastels beautifully and high end designers like Prada and Tory Burch have created customs for her. I'm excited to see more of Yara.
RIHANNA
Rihanna at Ocean's 8 Priemere, Photo by Dave Benett/WireImage
Rihanna, oh Rihanna. When it comes to fashion there is nothing she isn't willing to try. Asymmetry, androgynous, sexy, and damn near nude. We never know what to expect. Rihanna gives you a "I do what I want" in feminine pink to oversized dark hoodies. She is definitely a star we look forward to seeing at any event.
TRACEE ELLIS ROSS
Tracee Ellis Ross at Valentino Paris Show 2019, Photo via People.com
This past year Tracee Ellis Ross has expressed her love for streetwear style with skirts and sneakers and jogging suits. She loves her an oversized number and she knows what she wants. Her confidence in everything she wears is admirable and we love her fashion background. She is another person we love on Insta.
