Denim for this Fall is not for the Ordinary
Calling all of my bold spirits and not-so-perfect garment
lovers: the denim trends of this Fall are in your favor! Denim has been slow
moving in trends but they are picking up some speed lately. If you’re tired of
“skinny” jeans, and flares aren’t for you, or heck, you’re just fashionably
exciting, these trends may appeal to you.
1 / Replay’s Basinkim cropped jeans, $245 2 / Rachel Comey’s
Bishop wide-leg cropped jeans, $345 3/ Abercrombie
& Fitch’s Cropped Stovepipe Jeans, $78
Wide-leg cropped jeans are quite the cut of jeans. They are
not culottes (or if you remember gauchos, lol.) They are a cropped length, or
“ankle grazer” length, with the wide leg silhouette. This pant is airy, and
they can be a waist flattering fit like Rachel Comey’s pair above, or something
loose with more of a boyish feel.
4 / Victoria Beckam’s Alt jean in Forest Embroidery, $845 5
/ Alice & Olivia’s Ryley All Over Embroidered Bell Jean, $695 6 / Tibi’s
Marisol Embroidered Denim Skirt, $395
Threaded on art and patches, embroidery on denim can be
subtle and a cute accent or all out crazy.
High fashion designers like Gucci and Valentino have came out with
thousand dollar embroidered denim items this past season (and of course I’ll
let you Google that because it’s worth a search), and shops like ASOS are
trying to get it to the mass. Embroidered denim jackets are also a big hit if
you can find a really cool one. This is the trend that you can actually DIY if
you’ve got a little sewing experience or just pick up a needle and thread if
you’re ambitious.
7 / Vale’s Run Free Fray Culottes, $167 8 / Fringe Denim Top
on YooddStore, $49 9 / Chloé’s Frayed Denim mini dress, $759
Fringed denim. Can I have a pair? Please, and now? Brand 3x1
has taken over fringed denim; their WM3 crop jeans have been spotted all over
the recent Fashion Weeks. Other brands have put their spin on different denim
silhouettes like culottes, dresses, and tops with accents of frayed and fringed
hems. This is not like the raw hem trend either; it’s a more extreme version
(go get you a pair lol.)
